FATHER NATURE

Our desire to conquer nature has been prevalent for ages. The influences of the Hudson River School, in a sense, is what we humans dream the world could and should be. It offends the human ego that nature is indifferent to us. To satisfy our egos, we strive to conquer nature. Gaining its attention. This piece is a way to satisfy this desire. A way to release the id of our sadistic shadow. But this isn’t a real act of sadism. It is a compromise. We are venting. By letting it out, we can grow to greater appreciate our mother nature with a clear mind.

But let this be a reminder. It is impossible to be at the top forever. It is not the strongest nor the most intelligent that survive, but the one most adaptable to change. And as we see technology grow more intelligent and adaptive than ourselves, the grandchild of mother nature has been born. A new being with powers that was believed to only belong to the gods.

But be that as it may, will this new form of consciousness view us the way we view nature? Viewing it as our creator, yet ironically wanting to conquer it at the same time. Will our creations debate about us in the same way?
